Established in 1973 as the Health Sciences Audiovisual Section, the Educational Media & Technologies Section of MLA supports and furthers the application of digital and nonprint media and other educational technologies in the health sciences. It is a meeting ground for MLA members interested in these media and technologies.

The section also recommends and sponsors continuing education courses and symposia on educational media and technologies for the health sciences to be offered through the Medical Library Association.
